Roger Ham (O&H) and Liz Gandara (St John Ambulance) vehicle handover: Mobile Treatment Centre
We are very pleased to announce that we have handed over a shiny new Peugoet Boxer to leading first aid charity St John Ambulance as a new mobile treatment centre. The vehicle will be used to support volunteers while they work and deliver first aid at events.
O&H Vehicle Conversions are always delighted to deliver new vehicles to our customers but this build comes with a good news story attached.
The Peugeot Boxer that St John Ambulance now has started life as an occupational health vehicle, complete with rear bulkhead and hearing booth.
Liz Gandara, Fleet Manager for St John Ambulance, worked closely with our engineering team and O&H’s NHS sales manager, Roger Ham to develop plans to repurpose the vehicle to work for their needs.
She explained, “We were looking for a cost effective solution to our vehicle requirements. We needed a vehicle that could create an innovative, effective treatment area that provided enough storage to house medical equipment and to accommodate our external gazebo. When Roger approached us with the option of repurposing an existing vehicle it seemed like an ideal solution for us.”
Liz added, “I’m extremely pleased to see this new addition to our fleet before I move into my new role as Facilities Manager for St John Ambulance.”
The hearing booth has been adapted to provide not only additional storage but also welfare facilities such as a fridge and welfare tray capable of housing a kettle and tea making facilities.
We added a Clearview lightweight manual folding ramp and created extensive storage underneath the existing treatment bed.
The installation of a trauma panel allows for a suction unit and defibrillator – key equipment for the St John Ambulance mobile unit.
The conversion was completed with amber warning lights and scene lights to the side and rear for optimum conditions to treat patients.
